Tips for passing my road test?

So I’m taking my road test tomorrow and I’m pretty nervous. My road driving is excellent. My dad is always quick to point out any of my mistakes. But as far as the parallel parking, turnaround and hill start are concerned…well I’m pretty good on those things too.

But I’m just nervous that I’m going to mess up during the parallel park – I’ll get to close lining up to the car or something idk. Does anyone have any tips for me?

I’ve been driving for 9 years now, but I still remember my driving test. It’s pretty easy as long as you don’t expect the "Friendly State Trooper or DMV Employee" to actually be Friendly!?!

As for what they may expect.

When first entering, PUT YOUR SEATBELT ON! Adjust the seat where you can easily reach all the controls, adjust the mirrors, and make sure the RADIO IS OFF! + Turn off cell phone before entering car.

3 Point Turn, on narrow street. – Don’t let any wheel off the road doing the manuver.

Parking Car along side curb. – Make sure the wheels are turned the direction the DMV Manual sez ***I Can’t remember EVERYTHING!***, and make sure you APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE! After putting the vehicle in park. Oh yeah, make sure you remove the parking brake after you start out again!?! *Whoopsie for me their… :( *

Maintain a constant steady speed withing the posted speed limit. No sudden harsh turns unless avoiding an obsticle.

This one is important. WHEN the person giving you the exam says "Stop." DON’T come to a gentle stop, MASH THE BRAKE! They are testing to see how aware you are and your reflexes. They do this unexpectedley and down a slow street with no traffic around.

Your best bet is to take the smallest vehicle that you can to take this test. Don’t take a big honking truck *Like I wanted to…* If you don’t have to. With gas the cost it is now, I’m sure somebody in your family has a Corolla or something around that size. ***I used a 1995 Chevrolet Corsica.***

Finally, obey all road signs and state laws, don’t let them trick ya.

As for p. parking. It’s not to hard, but you should practice if you can. For me this is how I do it when I’m forced to p. park!

I pull into the space a bit for the angle and pull out next to the car in front *As close to the rear fender of that car that you feel comfy with.* Then reverse making sure not to tap either car. Get the rear wheels as close to the curb and swing the wheel to it’s max once clearing the other vehicle in front.

    Good luck.

Dont drink any energy drinks before going, be cool and relaxed. You should do fine aslong as you dont run anyone over. or i dont know senior citizens might be Bonus Points lol

  3. Drive America cares. says:

First of all relax, most people fail their test because the get so nervous that they forget to check their blinds spots and make full complete stops.

Here is an easy guaranteed method for Parallel Parking that works every time.

    1. Once you choose the space you want to park in pull your car right along side the car you are parking behind. Space yourself about three feet away.
    2. Before you back up turn the steering wheel all the way to the right.
    3. Let the car back slowly, when your head is even with the back bumper of the car your parking behind, then stop.
    4. Turn the steering wheel back to center or 1 ½ turns to the left.
    5. Continue backing slowly until the front of your car clears the back bumper of the car in front, then stop.
    6. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left.
    7. Continue backing slowly and the car will back it’s self into a perfect parallel angle to the curb.
    8. Make sure you leave the steering wheel all the way to left and the car will be automatically ready to pull out when you are.

Tips for passing my road test?

I’m taking my road test tomorrow. I’m 19 and I have been driving since I was 15 lol. I took drivers ed in High School and passed and what not. But now I’ve finally gotten prepared enough for my test.

I’m taking the test in Vermont. There is of course the road driving. Along with parallel parking, hill start and vermont turn around. I’m pretty good at doing all of these things. Once in a while I will hit the curb while doing a parallel park though. It’s kinda like a hit or miss sort of thing lol.

Any tips to help me pass my road test would be appreciated. Also is it common for people to pass on their first try or does it usually take a couple of attempts.

refrain from acohol before the test.

Don’t speed, know the hand signals, turn your wheel towards the curb when you stop if they have you park on a hill. Try your best to relax and pay attention to directions. I failed my first try. Lots of people fail for silly reasons because they’re nervous.

  3. Fuseek says:

Don’t get nervous and stall as soon as you start the car. lol I did this and still managed to pass, just make sure you remember to check the mirrors when you get in and do your shoulder check when you’re changing lanes or pulling out and you should do fine.
