Is it fair that they always fail me because i have a manual? Has this ever happened to anyone? Should i just borrow someones automatic or will i eventually pass with my parent's stick?

    NO. Just just because.

But they do put extra requirements that are not there when you take the test with an auto. It is unfair. So you should just borrow an automatic for the test.

    Good Luck…

no they fail you because you think you know what your doing verses knowing what you are doing. ………

Driving a standard transmission while taking your driving test the examiner will deduct many more points for every little thing that you do wrong even if you dont think that you did it wrong….drive a automatic and dont worry about it..

Road Test in NY?

to get your junior license does it have to be six months from the date you got your permit, turned 16, or just the sixth month in general.
because i turned 16 february 16th, got my permit the 19th and my road test is august 4th which would be the sixth month. but will i just get my limited junior license since it's not exactly six months?

also what will i be expected to do? i know i need to parallel park but what else.

Thank you so much!

It would of started when you first got your permit, on the 19th..

    What skills are tested?

    Driving in reverse
    Stopping at appropriate signs
    Nearing corners or intersections
    Stopping smoothly
    Sitting properly
    Turning around
    Steering properly
    Parallel parking
    Yielding to right-of-way

If you fail the road test…….

You must wait at least two weeks before taking the test again.

If you fail more than twice, MVC may require you to wait six months before taking the road test again.

Road test in NY?

My road test is on Thursday I was wondering what do I need to do in order to pass the test. How long does the test last? What do they ask you to do? I'm taking my test in Starrett City are the examiner nice? One more test if you touch the curb once, do you automatically fail the exam?

Hi, I think I can be a help here. I am 20 and just took my road test yesterday, I'm not in New York, I'm in Illionis. I expect it to be the same. Nicest people there at the Drivers License Facility. I have been to other places andthey don't seem as friendly. It depends who the people are. I heard them talking that people from another city 30 minutes away come here to take tests. I feared taking the road test, but sincei t wasn't busy it was easier. Make sure you have your seat belt buckled when you get in the car, do your signals for the guy and probably horn. Then relax, he will tell you what to do. Took 10 mintues for me and I passed. Said I need to work on my parking, but its so much easier than you'd think. Uphillparking for me, I just put the car in parked and that was fine with him. New York may be different, but I would think the same pretty much.
