I've been riding for the past 6 months on a delaware permit and never took the test to get my full license. I practiced the exact test on my zx7r at the dmv (afterhours) and my bike doesn't even have enough radius to make it around some of the cones on one part of the test. My friend, who's been riding for a long time could barely do it on my bike without hitting at least 2 of them, i'm a little worse of course. Anyway, someone mentioned that I can rent a scooter/moped and do the test on that. I have a few friends that have some for getting around the race tracks. My question is… is there a minimum number of CCs the moped/scooter has to be? Also, someone mentioned that in order for me to use one it has to be insured? Not sure why, because i'd just throw it in the back of the pickup and take it there… so basically I just want to know if I can take any old small POS up there and take the test on it?

Ask the DMV!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope!
Unless it is registered as a motorcycle, a scooter or moped is not acceptable. I run people through the test on a 150cc scooter, which is legal to do. I am in SC, so I can't help you except for advice.
Your ZX7 can pass the test, just you and your friend are not practiced enough on countersteering and proper leaning techniques. I have pulled Harleys around that course (which is the same everywhere), and left jaws dropped. It is best on a 90 to 150cc bike though.
You could always do the MSF course, and negate the whole thing.

Holding a slight amount of rear brake (just a light drag) may help in traversing the cones and sharp U-turn segment.
if u cant pass the test on the bike u normally ride on the street, u shouldnt be riding it. anyone can twist the wick and go 0-120. it takes a bit more skill to handle a bike at slow speeds. its all in the technique, and what can be done at high speed can be done at low speed with the right technique.
get this vid: http://www.ridelikeapro.com
it will get u riding alot better if u do exactly what he tells u.
in some countries, if u wanted to ride a zx7r on the street, u'd have to test on it. dont be a sissy by taking the test on a 50cc scooter. all u'd do is be cheating urself. real riders can ride at both parking lot speed and typical freeway speed. i took my test on my 1200 sportster….and ur bike is alot lighter than mine, and i had no problems passing the test. if i can do it on a top heavy, 560 pound, steel framed harley, u can do it on a aluminum bike. have confidence in urself. u will feel alot better next time u ride it knowing that u passed on yer own scoot.
come on have a little faith in yourself. do it with the zx.
practice makes perfect. don't be a wimp on a scooter.
that's like telling us you can't handle your bike. you must
be a poser.
