Nope.
Moving to Texas?
New residents moving into Texas, who have a valid driver license from their home state, have 30 days after entry into the state to secure a Texas driver license. To apply for a Texas driver license, applicants will be required to:
Applicants age 18 and over with a VALID out-of-state driver license
Provide proof of Identity.
Provide proof of Social Security Number.
Provide proof of Texas vehicle registration and liability insurance, for all vehicles that you own.
Complete required forms available at any Texas Driver License office.
Pay the required fee.
Pass a vision exam.
If you have a VALID out-of-state license in your possession, it must be surrendered at the driver license office.
NOTE: If you have never been licensed or have an EXPIRED out-of-state license, you will be required to pass both the written and driving exams, in addition to a vision test.
Most likely the written portion due to different driving laws in most states….get a book and study…no problem
the written test you will have to do over maybe, some states will just cange it over with a eye exam
If you have a full valid license in any State, the state of Texas will honor that (provided you are of legal driving age in Texas); all you have to do is go to the nearest DPS office and surrender your current license, pass a vision test and provide other proofs (identity, residency and similar things). In order to check out the requirements, I'd suggest you call the DPS before going there and/or check http://www.dmv.org (click on the link for Texas). Good luck (and welcome home to "The Lone Star State"!).
No you will not have to take the test again. Just be prepared to provide allot of information. Make sure that you have your car inspected, registered, and insured. These are the main things that they will ask for.
Also be patient, the lines are long and slow on any given day.
Welcome back to Texas!!
