I am taking it for the second time, in New York, on June 25th, the first day of summer vacation. It took five weeks to reserve a test date both times that I've signed up. The most nerve-wrecking part of the process is thinking about how if I don't pass it now, I'll have to wait over a month to try again! And with summer coming up, it would be devastating to not pass at the end of June and have to take it in August.
Is it the same way everywhere? How long did it take you to get an appointment for the test?

took me about 30 minute to pass test and be driving down road but that was 30 yrs ago
took me about 2 minutes. i did it online.
In my area of Massachusetts, the earliest available date is usually three weeks after you call to book the road test.
But maybe that's because that RMV caters to about two million people, and 70% fail their road test the first time.
I called about a month and a half before the desired date for my test and I got to choose whatever time of day I wanted. If you don't pass schedule a new test as soon as possible, you never know what will be open. But have confidence in yourself and you'll do fine. You know what you're in for and it's not going to be as difficult the second time. My friend failed the first time because he hit a cone, he went back the second time, and passed with flying colors. I passed my first time. You know what you did wrong the first time and you are going to do great.
