Driving Test question?

Alright, so tomorrow I’m taking my driving test. I’m a little curious though about one part, the parallel parking. My parents decided tonight to start me out learning how to parallel park. And It didn’t go as planned. My biggest issue was either having it hang out to close to the road or parking slightly on the grass (where the curb would be). But my real question is will this effect my grade that I receive substantially? If I do good on the other portions of the test will it totally blow it to shame? Please help!

If you do everything else correctly you should be fine. Tip: be sure to ask the examiner if they have put their seat belt on before you drive off.

  2. Oli says:

Pull up next to the (possibly imaginary if your jurisdiction uses poles) car in front of the space, turn the wheel to the right and begin backing up looking over your right shoulder. When your head is even with the rear bumper of the "car" in front, turn the wheel the other direction and continue backing up until you are close to the rear limit of the space. Turn the wheel to just past straight and pull forward to adjust your position in the space. You will do fine.

  3. kelvin d says:

i guess it depends where in the world you are… I am in australia and yes, it would seriously affect your mark here. You could fail the test just because you failed to parallel park. The trick to parallel parking could sometimes depend on the size of your car and how the car you are parking alongside is parked because if the other car is parked at an awkward position, chances are your parking job is going to be awkward too. Just try not to hit the curb or be too far from the curb. Get as close as possible without mounting it.

  4. Kayden says:

My best guess is that it depends on your location. Here in Pennsylvania, if you blow the parallel parking (which you do second, after the examiner checks your knowledge of your car functions), you don’t even get to leave the parking lot for the road test.

    Good luck!

driving test question?

i took the driving test today and i thought i was doing really good, but when the test was over my evaluator said i did everything well except i wasn’t close enough to the curb when i was turning right so he failed me..is that legit or was my evaluator just a dick?
he said that there was to much room between me and the curb and another car could’ve pulled up and there could be a problem..he said i lost to many "risk points"
so im not sure what that means?

That”s a harsh thing to fail ya for. Maybe you weren’t doing good and that was the last thing you did bad and it was just enough to fail you?

If you did everything else well, you should of passed.

for the parallel parking part of the test, if i back in slowly, but lightly hit the curb, would i still pass if i managed to park successfully without hitting the cones?

An touching of the car wheels to the curb is usually an automatic fail. I’ve had friends that did perectly through the entire test but then tapped the curb and they all automatically failed.

  2. yesenia652 says:

well, you better not try hitting the curb…you need to park straight in. Dont touch the curbs

Driving Test Question?

So i took my driving test for the second time yesterday and i failed. At the end of the test i put my car in park and turned it off and the lady said i had done extremely well throughout the entire course but i didn’t square off my final turn and i almost went into the oncoming lane…she was referring the oncoming lane as a right turning lane that branches off of the main lane. She said unfortunatly that put me over my point limit and i saw a 31 circled on her paper…i didn’t even cross the line to go into the turning lane and somehow thats the only thing i did wrong that she told me and i lost 31 points for that? I didn’t challenge her on it cause the last thing i wanted to do is piss her off but i thought that was complete bs and so did my dad…so how many points are you allowed to lose on your driving test before you fail and does that seem like a justified reason for failing me? I live in Pennsylvania if that makes a difference on the point system.

  1. Chelbear says:

I don’t know much about the oncoming lane thing. But here in Canada I believe if you get over 9 points you fail. And you could’ve had a little bit of points off already and what you had just added up to 31 with the last thing.

driving test question?

For a driving test, when you’re at a large intersection and want to turn right. If you want to turn right but there is a pedestrian on the other side of the street who is starting to cross. Do you have to wait for them to cross first even if you can make the turn before they get close to you?
If you wait though, the light almost turns red by the time they cross and the people behind you get pissed. Also they fail you if do this?
I’m talking about a large intersection where it takes the person like 20s to cross

  2. Nyu says:

yes, pedestrians are always the priority. if you hit them they are never at fault

  3. Caleb says:

    Yes you wait

  4. maze_walker says:

Yes. No matter what, the pedestrain ALWAYS has the right of way. It’s a good thing too cuz you wouldn’t believe the IDIOTS that walk around in the middle of street around here!

  5. michelle a says:

    WAIT!

  6. Anthony Q says:

You are good ..Just have to make sure the pedestrian is Far away from your car and if there is any Incoming traffic on the direction you are going or for pedestrians on the corner you are about to make the turn on, But during your driving test.. wait..4 them to cross

  7. rain says:

technically you are supposed to wait until pedestrians clear the crosswalk, that’s what the test will want you to say. but, most people will just turn if the pedestrian isn’t close…

  8. protoham says:

    What are your options:

    A. wait

    B. kill someone

The answer should be obvious. Hint, killing someone is always a bad idea.

  2. rachelakarae says:

The first question is a freebie- It asks "what is your name?"

They use this question to make sure you understand how to use the answer selection (multiple choice)

  3. toxicxsunshine says:

    you need a drivers handbook.
and there are hundreds of questions for that test, and they'll throw any random 20 or so at you.
there no way to tell you what they will ask.
especially because every dmv is gunna be a bit different.

  4. Bob says:

Have you ever seen a really stupid person with a licence?

    All the time!

Don't sweat the test, its offendingly easy.

  5. paradigm81 says:

Driving permit questions can easily be taken from the drivers manual in your state. You can probably obtain this information from the states website.

DWI? You should not ever even consider such a thing. Are you trying to prepare for that also? A DWI is costly in time, money, and is a black cloud over your head. Those are easily avoidable and saves your family and yourself embarrassment, not to mention the chance of ruining yours or someone else's life.

  6. rsk993 says:

when i took my permit test i only paid $7 and i live in arizona.
go to this website for practice tests

    http://www.drivingdirectory.com/test/index.php

  7. Chillaxed says:

here, i'll throw 10 at you. these are legitimate questions, i'm not kidding.
    1. True/False: Marijuana affects your ability to drive.
    2. Wearing a seat belt is: A. Mandatory B. Safe C. The Law D. All of the above
    3. When parking on an uphill slope with a curb, which way should you turn your wheels? A. Left B. Right C. Straight
    4. If you are driving behind a school bus and it turns on flashing red lights, what should you do? A. Stop immediately. B. Merge lanes and go around it.
    5. What is the speed limit in residential areas? A. 30 MPH B. 20 MPG C. 10 MPH D. Whatever works, as long as you yield to passerbys and cars

don't stress about this test though, its about as easy as it gets.

  2. ALL4MYDOG says:

are you failing the written test or the physical driving test? if its written all i can say is study more but driving if you having problems with parallel parking just make sure you don't hit a cone and say "that's the best i can do" they cant fail you just deduct a couple of points as long as you do alright everywhere else you should be fine. Good luck.

  3. DrIG says:

More importantly than attempting to find an easier testing site is for you to correct your driving since it is dangerous such as swerving into the wrong lane.

Take a few lessons at a driving school and get lots of practice before the next test.

Well, permit. I just started studying to get a permit, I would like to know what to expect. My questions.

1) How many questions are on the test?
2) What are some of the questions it'll have?
3) What grades are considered passing (70 and above?)
Oh and I live in KY if that helps (yeah I hate it, too…)

    3) I think you can miss 7, maybe 8

I didn't study at all, thought I would fail but ended up only missing 2. Just don't worry about it.

Driving test question?

hey im taking my driving test exactly 1 week from now and i have a question. Should i start braking when theres a green light because most of my friends have failed their driving test for running a yellow light. I know i dont have to slow down for a green light but im scared that if i dont slow down, they light will turn yellow and ill press on the brakes real hard so the whole car jerks.. so what should i do when i get to a green light since i dont know when itll turn yellow?

  1. Alucard Zero says:

Just go the speed limit, if it turns yellow and you're already too far forward to brake, then just keep going. If you have room to stop, stop. Also check mirrors before slamming on the brakes.

  2. Chelsea says:

Don't slow down for a green light. look for a flashing hand on the crosswalk sign to see if it'll turn yellow soon

  3. Meru says:

Just pay attention, the yellow light is more of a warning not to speed up, but to say "hey all those already under the light keep going, but no more cars should venture until the light is green again".

odds are, your friends saw a yellow light, and sped up to make it in time, Instead of showing caution, and slowing down.

  4. Twilighters R says:

when u get to the green light just slow down a little if it turns yellow and u already crossed the cross road line don't stop if u did go carfully

  5. Jim D says:

Just break slightly when coming to a light. That way if your caught in between you can stop, but if your going full speed and don't have enough time to stop your only option is to run the light.

  6. codykins16 says:

Hey! I live in Michigan, i'm an -almost- 16 year old, girl. I am currently in driver's training (yeah im a little late, but oh well) ; they told me to continue driving and only slow if you have enough time to stop if the light turns red. Does that make sence? I hope that helps! Good luck, and don't sweat the driving portion, the instructors (are suppose to) treat you like you've never driven before, so it's simplier and easier than i expected.

Driving test question.?

I have always been taught to drive about 5 mph over the speed limit, and everyone else seems to do the same. I have been driving for a year now with my permit, and I am going to take my driving test on Monday. Should I drive a couple mph over the speed limit, or go the exact speed limit?

going lik 2 miles over the speed limit wont hurt u. but if u speed any more then 5 it might hurt u. just stay in the speed limit. it would b dumb to go to far over cuz then they wont trust u. do EVERYTHING by the rules how they want it. so stick to speed limit

  2. KB says:

    hah
    seriously?

    you drive the speed limit
    not 5 mph over..

  3. Joel says:

in most scenarios driving 5 over will not hurt you as the police give a small window for your speedo being a little off. BUT when your doing the driving test your getting graded on your driving qaulity, go the speed limit and no more. Even if they would let you slide at 5 over they may deduct from your score and you never no if your gonna need those points

Driving Test Question?

For Minnesota.
I have a question about for a driving test to get my license.
-When you are in a 1 lane turn lane, about to turn on the a 2 or more lane street, what lane are you suppose to go to

Turn in the lane that is the closest to you.

  2. Lizardbells says:

The first avaliable lane closest to you

  3. Unknown says:

In the USA we always drive on the right side of the road. Meaning the driver is always closer to the double yellow center lines than the passenger seat.
If you dont know how to drive yet then you need to have lessons with your parents or a driving school BEFORE taking the driving test. You are not ready for a test.
If you take a right turn you go to the lane on the right side of the road. If you take a left turn you turn into the right lane or right of the median (thing in the center of a divided highway).

Driving test question?

I have a coulp of question's to ask about getting my learner's permit in Tennessee.I have CP (Cerebral Palsy) and my physical therapist thought that it would be better if I get my learner's permit first. That way someone can be with me untill I feel more comfortable then try and get my drivers license. But here's my question on the Tennesse Department Of Safety they have online practice test dived into four part's
1#:Alcohol
2#:Laws
3#:Procedures
4#:Signs

It also says that the questions will NOT appear on the actual test.I do take these test every day and pass them cause they do help me I also study the driver's manual not the whole thing. My father has circled the most important thing's I need to study here's my questions?

1.Do I need to stop taking these practice test?
2.How many question's are usually on a driver's permit?
3.Is the test hard or easy?
4.If I fell the test will I get a copy of the question's I didn't answer correctly?

Thank you for taking the time to read and answer my question!!!

i dont know how it is in TN but here's what i know about California.

    1. you can take the practice tests as many times as you want. it can only prepare you for the test.

    2. about 25 – 30 questions

    3. it's fairly easy. common sense questions. if you look and study the manual you'll do fine.

    4. in california you do get the test with the wrong questions, but you'll get a different version when you go and take the test again.

    Good luck

you sound like you more then ready to take the test,it short like 20 questions and it is easy and they do tell you what you got wrong and if you don't fully understand what the test is asking they will help you so i don't think you will have any problem.

driving test question?

age 21 do you need to go to driving school or can I just take my learner permit down to mva and take the driving test

  1. A[nna]mazing says:

    depends where you live

just go to the dmv and ask

  2. Sharon R says:

In California you do not need driving school once you turn 18. Just need your learners permit for 30 days before taking driving test.

  3. DeTe says:

Again, that would depend on the state that you are in. Most states let you just take the written test once you turn 18 yrs old without going to a driving school, then purchase the permit and take the road test. You may have to wait a certain amount of time before taking that test but the dmv is the best place to get the fine details.

  2. thetigr15 says:

Great move. Just make sure there are no pedestrians on the road, no cars coming behind you, and no one in the double parked car. Check all sides of you car and the parked car and go around. You should be fine…any doubts…ask the instructor!

Driving Test Question?

In Florida, what do you have to do in the actualy driving part to get your license? I took driver's ed, so I got a waiver, but my boyfriend is going to take the test in May, and what do they make you do? Parallel parking, 3-point turns, etc.

Thanks!

Driving Test question?

Ok im taking my drivers license test on monday and im wondering is my moms car suitable for the test its a 2006 Toyota Highlander if you don't know what a highlander is heres a pic of one (http://photos.autonexus.com/il/dealers/104-005-CA/photos/1185994920-JTEDP21A870130727_Budget%20Cars%20002.jpg.jpg) and it feels comfortable to me and it feels as if im driving in a small car so i dont have a problem with it so do you think i should use it on my driving test.

Oh yea and what position do you hold your hands on the steering wheel and can you use one hand? because i feel more comfortable when i use my left hand to drive and i only use 2 hands while going around a corner.

Oh by the way i live in florida and the DMV lets you drive on the driving course behind the parking lot so you don't go on the actual roads.

Place your hands at 10 and 2:00 on the steering wheel.

It's not wise to use just one hand. It's not a rule, but it's not wise either.

    Good luck

there is a junction like a roundabout but instead of looking right you look left for traffic for it to be clear

what is this junction and how to deal with it

  1. young old man says:

Basically you have to yield to all incoming cars ,coming from the left as they are only a one way traffic in the turn about circle , and go forward when it is clear , to the right ,and they are there to slow down the straight true traffic , instead of having a 4 way stop signs , this is in areas where probably people haven't stop at their corresponding stops .

  2. Jayanto M says:

Round about is turning left you have to negotiate the traffic from left. This is the junction where you should slow your vehicle use your back mirror and use your indicator 20 yards before and turn your vehicle to your destination.
From purchase to driving you are confident.Wish you good luck.

  3. bharat_vanshi says:

Junction is a joint at which two or more ways are jointing and the ways from junction may leads to different 3 or more sides.
In India if we are on junction we should follow the rules of the roads and First if a dead body is on one way it should be allow first and second after that if there is any guy is going for marry he must be allowed secondly and than any other who need urgent going either he/she may be patient and in the last a vehicle which have no any urgency may be passed out..
I think the answer given by me may suitable for the questioner

Driving test question?

I have to take the driving portion of my test to get my license next week, and I was just wondering if the written test that people talk about is the test I took to get my permit? If the written test is a whole different test, what kind of questions are on it? Similar questions that were on the permit written test? I live in Ohio if that matters any..

thank you all for reading

the written test is the one you took to get your permit you dont have another written test again all you have to do know is drive good luck.

  2. xoxox says:

for school we just had a test to get our permit for a writing test. then we had writing questions on part of our Final. then we have Mult. Choice on Tuesday.

but i live in a dif. state… so it may make a differnece

  3. missdaveyhavoc says:

you've already taken the written test if you've gotten your learner's permit through drivers ed. It was the test you took when you teacher gave you a pink slip or whatever color to take to the DMV and get your permit. You only have to get your license, not take the written test. What's the point of taking it twice?

  4. grouki says:

DON'T WORRY. YOU ARE STRESSING TO MUCH, WHICH MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH YOUR SCORE. JUST TAKE YOU TIME, BREATH AND YOU WILL DO FINE. MAKE SURE YOU READ YOUR DRIVER'S ED. BOOK AND KNOW LOTS OF ON THE ROAD SIGNS. GOOD LUCK!!! IF YOU DO NOT PASS, YOU CAN TAKE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

  5. Evie S says:

No matter what state you live in, the best is to read the driver handbook for that state. All the necessary laws are listed and explained. All the answers to the written test will come from this handbook, and it's free.

Driving test question?

Ok, the last time I asked this people didn't understand what I was talking about. When I took my driving test this morning, I had to put up to some cones (the car facing north), then back to my left, and position the car between six cones (witch made a parking space that faced east). All the people at my moms work thought it was illegal. I want to know if anyone in other states or cities have to do this.

And please I DON'T mean Parallel Parking. I know why you have to do that.
It's like pulling straight in a parking lot parking place, except backward.

No I live in Iowa, and never heard of such a thing. Thats kinda weird, unless it was for a CDL. Rich, read the question again, its NOT parallel

  2. rich2481 says:

it sounds like parallel parking, the cones are simulating parking squares and cars around you,

that is what parallel parking is, google it, there is a picture,

  3. Seven53 says:

    Illegal? It's a driving test!

You were tested on maneuverability! You failed! Practice until you get it right! You may have to maneuver around items in a similar way in the real world!

  4. MollyC says:

I don't quite understand what is being called illegal. The way you parked or the fact that they made you park facing east? And I'm not sure how you were parking, you say you didn't parallel park, did you back into a parking space then? Please be a bit more detailed!

    EDIT
Thanks for more details, as far as I know, it is not illegal to back into a parking space, the reason they would have you do it is just to make sure you have reasonable control over driving your car in reverse. A real life example would be backing into your garage.

  5. sketeilloh says:

Yes im from Canada and if you had to back in and i understand correctly it is perfectly legal…obv you wouldnt do it crossing a lane of traffic though

Driving Test Question?

Ok I failed the driving test but I have a question. On the driving test I had to be able to back into a parking space. My question is, Do people in other states or even towns have to do this, and if so why do you have to be able to do something I always thought was dangerous to do.
Oh btw I live in the state of Georgia.
I ment they had me back into a parking space like at a wall-mart were there would be to cars on each side of me. not parallel parking I know why you have to do that. I've just never met anyone that backs into a parking space in parkinglots befor.

You need to be proficient in all aspects of maneuverability, including backing. You WILL have to back up your car from time to time in the real world, ya know

  2. Jack The Ripper says:

If you can't back into a parking space, you shouldn't have a licence anyway,so just work on it and worry about whether others had to do it on their test when you know how to drive.

    Jack

  3. wrack_n_ruin says:

It's only dangerous if you don't know how to do it properly. It's pretty much a universally required skill for drivers, so they test for it for good reason.

  4. mJc says:

In Michigan they test you to do parallel parking. Is that what you were really asked to do? It takes a bit of practice, so see if you can get someone to help you out. And don't worry about failing the test… you can take it over a dozen times if need be. What's most important is that you always DRIVE SAFELY! Good luck!

  5. Mrsanswerperson says:

Nevada-No, we don't have to back into a parking space but we do have to paralell park. Also, Don't feel bad, I didn't pass the first time either. People for get driving is practice. That just happens to be the thing you need to practice at. Hope i helped.

  6. kinn2him says:

yes… in nc you have to parallel park… while this particular application may not be used… backing with precision most certainly is. (besides, how do you get out of a parking space that you pull straight into?)

  7. jon_mac_usa says:

This is why your car has mirrors. Are you planning on never backing out of someones driveway because it's TOO dangerous. Please practice driving, often and keep Georgia safe.

  8. heavymetal302 says:

From the best of my knowledge, all states require parking. Because, as you said, it is dangerous to do IS exactly why you must be able to back in a parking space. Get a friend or two to help you practice. Have them be other cars and you must back in between them. Practice, practice, practice!!!
You really do not want something like this to scare you and keep you from getting your license, do you? You will be so proud of yourself for learning this! I know you can do it. Just practice as hard as you can and it will be nothing but a memory.

  9. Marjie L says:

Do you mean while parallel parking? That's the way it SHOULD be done. I don't drive, but I've gotten coached by those that I hang out with that drive about parallel parking that way.

Driving test question?

I am going to take my driving test for my license tomorrow. I was wondering what they will be asking about the interior of the car. What will they ask? Do I have to point out the indicator or control unit/senors in the car?

  1. urrrp says:

Do not drink and drive – they will not let you pass. They will ask you where the mini bar is in the car – this is a trick question.

  2. Kevin says:

They may ask you to operate all the exterior lights (turn signals, headlights, emergency flashers), maybe the horn (I sure hope you know where that is, unless its a Land Rover lol), and seatbelts of coarse. Thats all I can remember being asked about the interior at my driving test, but that was 7 years ago.

  3. Arghhhh! says:

They didn't ask anything like that for my test. They're not going to ask you to reproduce blue print for the car. They might ask something like wheres the blinkers? Where's your gear lever? Nothing I would worry about.

  4. Kyle S says:

Don't forget the Emergency Brake, they'll want you to throw that on every time you park anywhere. Otherwise just signals, any remote mirror switches, seat adjustment, headlights, flashers, and maybe wipers.

  5. Victor says:

They ask you to operate the indicator lights, break and to check the mirrors. Then watch you while driving how you handle controls etc…

Driving Test question?

I AM TAKING MY DRIVING TEST TOMORROW AND I AM USING MY FRIEND'S CAR BUT HER NAME IS ON THE INSURANCE AND THE CAR IS REGISTERD IN HER FATHER'S NAME. WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR DRIVING TEST YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR DRIVING PERMIT, PROOF OF INSURANCE AND CAR REGISTERATION. NOW DOES THE NAME ON THE REGISTRATION NEED TO MATCH THE NAME ON THE INSURANCE OR CAN IT BE DIFFERENT.

They want to see what type of car you have and if it's safe for the road. When I took my test they asked me if the car was mine and then they check to make sure all signals are working and the car is fit for the road and that you won't be in danger to others. I would call and ask them if you can use your friends car.

  2. finaldx says:

No, it does not matter, so long as the registration and the insurance are issued in the same name.

They make you run through the steps of checking the lights, horn, turn indicators and brake lights. Nine times out of ten, people are so nervous they leave the headlights on. If you remember to turn them off, it will impress the driving tester.
