You mean on your written test to get your permit? Just go to your local dmv website and it has practice tests on it that you can study off of.

  2. Nan's cat Tigger says:

You should have a booklet or can get one at the dmv to study from. The questions are not trick questions so just learn the material and you will be ok. I don’t know about FL, but some places you get 3 tries to pass the test…

  3. Charles says:

The test questions are based on the driver’s license handbook. you must read it.

Driver’s license test?!?

So any tips for the license test? And my friend told me that she failed on because at my DMV, at the stop signs, they have no lines, so she stopped before the the stop sign a little and got points off for every sign because of that. How do you do that?

  1. Flyweight says:

If you were given material to study in drivers ed just study that. Know where to aim your wheels on an incline (facing down or up, and with or without a curb), bike lane rules, right of ways, practice your parking, nothing super hard really, you’re just paranoid, lol.

Maybe your friend drove into a pedestrian crossing, did a rolling stop (didn’t stop all the way), didn’t look both ways, etc. etc. etc. Odds are she’s just making that excuse up for screwing up somewhere else, it doesn’t make sense she’ll be failed for stopping before a stop sign imo (and if it is, that’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard).

Driver’s License Test?

For the test I must take to get my driver’s license is it going to be just in the back of the building in the little course made out of cones or do they make you actually go on the road and drive? If it makes any difference I’m in GA.

in pennsylvania, you go in the back and parallel park between cones.
then they take you out on the road for the "road test".

they may do it different in GA, so ask a friend thats already taken it or call the dmv.

It depends on where you live. Each state is different.

  2. Lindsay W says:

Well you need to know how to parallel park: make sure you do not hit the curve otherwise they take a lot of points off. Look at both intersections before you cross it, know the steps of a 3 point turn, complete stop at stop signs, don't be nervous and last of all be confident. Supposedly, the man/woman grading you knows right away if u past by ur composture and confidence. Therefore, good luck!

  2. amovirgo says:

I don't know about "Automatic fails"….but here are some things to remember:

Always yield at a green light to oncoming traffic when you are turning left.

You can turn right on red IF there isn't oncoming traffic.

When at a four way stop remember to let the first car who approached the four way stop go first. (Although some people don't do that like they are suppost to!)

Remember to use your turn signals.

    ALWAYS yield to pedestrians!

These are just a few tips…Good luck!

I am turning sixteen in the near future, and I would like to know what specifically I need to make sure I have mastered for the performance driving test. I know the basics, but if anyone has an idea of what I should practice, please help me out! Thank you!

  1. Matt L says:

mostly you need to know all of the basic knowledge that was required to take the test for your permit and you need to be able to get down the road and back in one piece. But that's in North Carolina… I don't know what it would be for other states.

  2. Oxyidiot says:

make it obvious that you are scanning the road, checking mirrors

make sure the instructor puts on his seat belt before you start the car

check speed limits around driving test

    know parking well

make sure its completely safe to take a right turn etc but if you are overly cautious- such as when you take too much time to turn when they're opportunities for you to merge safely, thus slowing down traffic you'll get deducted.

When backing up never look back to the front while still inching back, even if you are about to press on the brakes-make sure you do it before you turn your head.

before taking a right stop at the crosswalk scan for pedestrians and then ease in and look for opportunities to turn

Driver's License Test?

Before I ask my question, please dont just link me to the Arizona DMV website.. i've already looked there.

Ok, I just turned 18 and I'm going in for my drivers license test. I have never had a permit, but I still know how to drive a car.

1.) Is there a driving part for the Arizona test?
2.) If so, do I have to parellel park, or is just just a 3 point turn?
3.) If so, do I have to provide my own car?
4.) If they provide the car, will they even let me drive for the driving portion w/o a permit?

1.i beleive all states require a driving portion of the drivers test
2.most states don't require a parellel parking portion on the test anymore they used to but not anymore.
3.95% the time yes unless you've taken drivers ed which i'm assuming you haven't not being mean but if you take that they give you a little slip of paper and you don't even have to take the test at all.
    4.not sure on that one.

  2. car253 says:

It would be easier to call the AZ DMV.

Driver's License Test…?

So I'm going for my license test in a few days…
I'm kind of nervous and I was just hoping for some advice about it.
Also, what do I need to bring with me? I have my driving permit already so do I still need to bring a birth certificate or anything?Or will just bringing the permit with work? Also, about how long does the test last, and how much is the fee for taking it? I just want to make sure that I am prepared so any answers will be appreciated :)
Thanks
by the way, I'm going to the Rice Lake dmv in WI.

i believe you need your blue card and two other forms of ID like a permit and your birth certificate. Im pretty positive that you do not have a fee the first time its taken but after that(if you fail) i think its like $15 or something like that. by the way i thought it was a very easy test, dont sweat it too much.

  2. p54 says:

i dont remember what you have toh bring with you, id bring a birth certificate and social security card just to be safe.

my test lasted only 15 min
i dont know if there is a fee for taking it, but the fee to get the license is like 25 bucks.

  3. MarkyMark says:

Scenarios, when its ur turn to turn, etc etc

  4. soccerguy says:

Yea, also Just do everything correctly, like how u were taught, and be very careful with parallel parking–so many people fail that part.

  5. Kyle B says:

if you live in Ohio practice the manuverabilty that is the only hard part everything else they will tell you and dont stress its easy

  6. dj s says:

when u get ur license come get me lol jk jk

  7. I Have a Sick Flow says:

He will turn up the radio and stuff to try and suprise you because he will say thats what your friends might do, and he will give you certain scenarios like made up stories of things that would happen if you are drving.

  8. Fes F says:

Honestly it's pretty simple. I just took mine a few months ago and got a perfect score. The most important thing to remember is to relax. They will ask you to use your lights, the windshield wipers, hand signals, emergency flashers, etc. but it's a pretty easy. Just stay calm during the actual driving and be really conservative.

  9. van_tastic5775 says:

you should have a driving instructor to tell you all these things but,i passed my test 2 wks ago, they are not to worried about questions but they are more concerned how you are on the road. they will most likely ask you about T Junctions, Zebra crossing lights, the markings on the road as in when its safe to over take and what yellow lines on the inside of the road means. but there is about a hundred questions they could ask, just use common knowledge and answer them as best you can, even if its not from the "txt book" if they know what your on about its good enough for them, believe in yourself and believe you will pass, its not as bad as you think it is, i nearly died the day i done mine and at the end of it i could have kicked myself that i made such a big deal!! i passed 1st time!! yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! you will too,
    GOOD LUCK AND THINK POSITIVEXXxxXXxx

  10. James W says:

    damn your fine

  11. sk8erkjvm says:

dont stress your self out you should already know everything but when your nervous you mess up things… take it easy and be calm.

  12. Reality Bites says:

The instructor will ask you to flash your car lights and to honk the horn at the beginning of the test and to show that you know hand signals and will ask if you know where everything is in your car is like the hazard lights, blinkers, defrost etc to see if everything is intact for safety reasons and if you know your car well enough.

Then through out the test the instructor will remain silent and only tell you where he or she wants you to go and you will have to drive with the knowledge you have. Just remember to stop at stop signs, merge into the correct lane when necessarily and to use your blinkers and mirrors and don't forget to scan when you are at a intersection he or she be grading you on all of that.

If you meant the driving written test review the pamplet and everything on the test will be in that book.

  13. Disgruntled says:

when I took my road test she had me parallel park and back up to a cone as close as i could without hitting it..i hit it of course lol..when we got on the road just make sure you DO NOT SPEED..always use your turn signals. stop completely at every stop sign and look both ways for traffic. She had me do that when stopped at a red light also. And be sure to keep both your hands on the steering wheel at all times

Basically you have to drive like your 80 years old..

  14. Leroy says:

are you taking the written test of the road test? if the written, just study the study guide. it's pretty easy. just start studying it now, and you should be ready by tomorrow.

if it's the road test, the key is , "take your time"..REMEMBER, it is not a timed test. You can take your time and don't feel rushed. I don't mean like drive super slow, of course, you have to drive at a normal speed, never above the speed limit.. but this is where most people fail, they rush, they get nervous and they hurry. just breath, take your time..especially with the parallel parking, don't rush that if you are not good with parallel parking..remember it is not timed, so you can take your time, use all your mirrors, and poke your head out the window if you have to look where you're going, it's okay, take your time, and don't hit the curb or any cars, and you will pass!! good luck !! i love you so much btw you are so beautiful. my heart beats for you, and you alone!

  15. Rick T says:

When two vehicle enter a intersection at the same time with no lights just stop signs. Who has the right of way? The car to the right.

  1. go cowboys 91 says:

make sure that you keep an eye at approaching cars at an intersection; although they are approaching just look back at them to make sure that they are slowing down/stopping. Also, know how to park on the side of a road, no more than 12" from a curb. Also, you must know how to park going in reverse. I would expect to parallel park, although some instructors don't make you. Make sure you know how to do the 3-point turn and make sure that you signal like crazy. My instructor was fairly easy, in that he basically conversed with me, etc. No worries, though, you'll do fine.

  2. Patrick Robert A says:

i passed my test about six months ago i was easy honestly the biggest piece of advice i can give you is relax and enjoy the drive but in response to your question the biggest thing is observation / speed / parking / reversing around the corner and be prepared for the emergency stop not a lot of people get this on there test but be prepared you might get luck also a other fav of theirs is the turn in the road

but honestly look around dont forget your blind spot check mirrors signal correctly watch your speed pay attention and relax and enjoy your drive

    good luck to you

  3. Axel says:

Some ways you get points taken off are if you dont use your rearview when backing up if you dont check your blind spots when switching lanes and remember to always keep both hands on the stearing wheel and dont go over the white lines
    Hope this helps

If it's UK based, you need to use your mirrors, be aware of everything around you. Also, if you make a mistake, do not panic and think it's all over. They want to see how you correct your mistakes so it's fine to make a mistake. Obviously, don't make loads of mistakes…
Just concentrate on the road, use your mirrors and your indicators. Don't speed but don't be hesitant. Stay calm.

  2. Jude says:

okay just drive carefully, i mean avoid and do not be very close to the counter flow vehicles (Philippine Driver License Test) use side mirrors and rear mirrors (the triangle technique) when turning and reversing i mean or backing here in our country and open lights dim fog lights whn driving during night, and use signal lights when turning and of cours EATBELTS the most important check battery, oil check signal lights and other lights are functiining well gasoline check too and the water for defensive driving click on the link and the rules on traffic signs

Don't stress out too much. They don't want to be mean, just to make sure that whackos don't get a license. Take your time and do things right.

  2. Jkkll says:

Be sure not to hit the curb because my sister did that and the lady failed her! If you practice tonight, as much as you can, but not overlode, you can get into the crack of things! DO NOT PANIC EHRN YOU GET IN THE CAR, czu then you might just fail from the nervousness. so don't freak, and know you limits, and use good judgement

  3. doug0102 says:

Of course, you may come across a mean person, but in general they are OK.
They are not allowed to "trick" you (they'll not tell you to make a turn, if a turn is not allowed there, or they'll not send you the wrong way into a one way street.)
Suggestions? Just drive. Think of it not as a test, but as if you are driving with somebody, who gives you directions where to go. Look at the road and not at the person next to you.

  4. dreambattery says:

I'm going to driving school in less than 2 weeks, so I understand your nervousness. Just approach everything with confidence. Take it slow if necessary. Good luck!

Yes. There is a little book you can get at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles and if you read and study it, you can pass the test. Then, you will have your driving evaluated.

    Good luck.

  2. donna l says:

i found a website with the drivers manual pretest questions if you want to use it.

    http://www.lowestpricetrafficschool.com/handbooks/

  3. black_rx20022002 says:

I took it last summer, it should be easy.
Besides the usual stuff, you have to do things like signal properly, back up your car in R for quite a distances, parallel parking, make a sharp turn, etc.
Just relax, no sudden movement, it is easy.

  4. quikblue11 says:

so yeah the first girl that anwsered prob failed the first time and criticizing you makes her feel smart, but remember she is prob a blonde. but dude dont make the test harded that it already is. go in confident and you'll pass better than you expected. its all just common sense. so good luck and dont stress.

  5. Henry Y says:

if you think about it, the driving test is a test over all your knowledge on driving. maybe not like "how many feet you travel after you apply the brakes". remember, we want to be safe on the road, so they will test all the basics and some advanced techniques such as parallel parking.

    some NECESSITIES:
    starting the car
    seat belt
    mirror check
    parking
    (while driving)
checking the rear and side mirrors
    turn signals
    yielding
    stop signs and stop lights
    speed control (very crucial)
    highway and freeway
    knowledge of various signs

  6. Lauren says:

You will be expected to perform the following maneuvers on the driving test:

    * TURN ABOUT – Turn your car around in a 30' to 40' space.
    * SHIFT GEARS – Change gears smoothly and correctly (if your car has a manual shift transmission).
    * APPROACH OF CROSSING – Get in the proper lane and look in each direction. Change gears smoothly and correctly (if your car has a manual shift transmission).
    * OBSERVE RIGHT-OF-WAY – Allow pedestrians to cross, pull over and stop for emergency vehicles and do not enter an intersection where you will interfere with other traffic.
    * STRAIGHT-IN PARKING – Park your vehicle inside the parking space straight-in. When properly parked, the vehicle should be centered inside the space with no part of the vehicle extending out in the traffic lane. This maneuver gives the examiner the opportunity to observe your ability to:
    1. handle the vehicle in close quarters
    2. judge distance
    3. maintain control of the vehicle as you turn into a straight- in parking space.
    * STOP/START ON A GRADE – If there is no hill on your driving test, this maneuver is simulated when the car is in the straight-in parking space or when the car is pulled over to the side of the road before the turnabout maneuver. You will be instructed to show or tell the examiner what you would do if you were going to leave the vehicle parked up or down a hill, with or without a curb.
    * STOP QUICKLY – Drive at 20 miles per hour and make a quick, safe stop when the examiner instructs you.
    * BACKING – Back for a distance of 50 feet at a slow speed. Do not use the rear-view mirror when backing. Look to the rear instead.
    * OBEY STOP SIGNS – Give the proper signal if turning, approach in the proper lane, come to a complete stop before reaching the pedestrian crosswalk or stop line, and remain stopped until you can move safely without interfering with cross traffic.
    * OBEY TRAFFIC SIGNALS – Get into the proper lane and approach the light at a speed that will allow you to stop if the light should change. When you must stop, stop before the pedestrian crosswalk or stopline. When the light turns green, do not move forward until the other traffic has cleared the intersection. Give the correct signal for stopping and turning. Watch for "no turn" and "one way" signs.
    * SIGNAL AND TURN – Get into the proper lane and signal your turn for the last 100 feet. You may use either hand signals or mechanical signals. Slow before reaching the crosswalk and turn into the proper lane.
    * PASSING – Always look ahead and behind to make sure you can pass safely. Pass on the left, unless the car ahead is about to make a left turn or is in the left turn lane on a street with more than one lane in each direction. Do not pass on the shoulder (side of the road).
    * STAY IN PROPER LANE – Drive in the right lane except on a one-way street. Do not change lanes until you may do so safely.
    * FOLLOW AT A SAFE DISTANCE – Do not drive too closely behind other cars. Use the Two Second Rule (see page 45).
    * USE PROPER POSTURE – Keep both hands on the steering wheel and do not rest your elbow in the window.

Drivers license test?

I live in North Carolina and I was wondering when you begin to do a 3 point turn will you fail if you go just a little onto the curb when you pull to the right? Not like ALL the way on the curb, but just a little… cause you have to make enough room as possible to turn.

Do you do your test on an actual road or behind the MVA? you shouldn't go onto the curb at all. They give you enough room to back up and turn around.

If you touch the curb doing anything, they can automatically fail you. Don't worry about the test, it's really just a creepy old guy that sits in the passenger seat and does the crossword from the paper.

Well first off you should feel lucky.. In California (as of Jan 2007) you cant even get a full license at your age.. you can only get a conditional permit until you are 18 here.

You should be OK.. its just basic driving… turn left turn right, come to a stop etc etc.. worst they might make you do is parallel park (that one screw up a lotta people LOL)

  2. Preston S says:

The driving test is very easy if you have practiced. Every county has a different course, but what you have to di is the same. You have to drive around a short course, making sure you signal when turning and stop at signs. If you do not signal or come to a FULL stop, the instructor can fail you, so do both. You will also come to a section of the course where you must parallel park between cones. They give you way more space then you need, so take your time. If you a hit a cone, you also fail. Afterwards you do a K turn and your done.

Good luck, I hope this helped. Remember, the order of signs or tests is different dependin on the county you take the test.

    1. Know how to parallel park. You get one shot. If you fail that and enough of the other stuff it will put you into the fail zone.
    2. use of signals.
    3. when you park going up a hill or down, remember to turn you wheels the proper direction. and set the E-Brake. remember also to signal when coming back into the lane of traffic from that stop.
    4. Know your heater, A/C and defrost controls and how they work. This one got my Daughter.
    5. When looking in the mirror make a head movement not just a look of the eyes as you would normally do. They may count off if they don't think you look in the mirror enough.
My Son was tested in The Kansas City Mo area. one time he got it.
Most of all don't freak out and be nervous. You might drive around the roads over by the office to get familiar where you will be driving for the test. Think about how many people do this every day…..You will do fine.
These tips along with the others will set you on a course to pass.
    Good Luck

You take a written test to make sure you know the main rules, and a practicle test to check that you can safely operate the vehicle.

The examiner for the practical test knows you are nervous and will allow for that.

Dont be hurried. Its better to be a bit cautious at stop signs.

The test is usually parrallel parking, and then a short drive. You will make a series of left and right turns, stop at stop signs or traffic lights. All the normal driving things.

You may be asked to pull over to the side of the road.

The examiner is watching to see that you maintain a distance from other cars, use turn signals, obey the driving rules and speed limits. Be cautious at stop signs and intersections. You must come to a COMPLETE stop.

Don't get nervous. Keep both hands on the wheel, use turn signals, even when pulling away from the curb. Practice parking (parallel, backing up) that's where most of the "fender benders and pedestrian strikes are, in parking lots. Don't go in cocky but be assertive and confident. Oh, and smile for the camera when that take that drivers license photo.

You actually don't need to do parallel parking anymore. When I took my test 4 years ago I didn't, unless they have changed it back since then.

Just be sure to always check your mirrors, look back and forth and back again before proceeding, have your seatbelt on, and just be safe…and don't freak out!!!

I was almost 18 when I got my license =]
