Living in Atlanta I come across MANY bad drivers. I've been a lot of places and for some reason people here in Atlanta are the worst. We drive faster and more reckless than any other place I've been. With that being said, I think people everywhere not just here should have to retake their driving test every 5 years. My reason why is that people get in the habit of driving badly. Thats just the way they drive and they know no different. With taking the test again it may get some very reckless drivers off of the road. Does anyone agree?

i really dont think it would work as well as we want it, people could drive normal just to pass the test. i do think if your over 70 you should have to take a driving test every year espically after a 93 year old man drove through a panera bread the other day.
Too expensive. Have re-tests on a random basis. Every licence in the province or state goes into a pool, and some are drawn. If your name comes up, you go for test, whether your are 18 or 75, whether you were tested last year, or it has been 10. Re-test after 5 minor or 2 major violations, after 2 at-fault accidents, or one if it is major accident.
It's funny that you ask because I was just thinking that very same thing today. There are a lot of bad drivers out there who would probably benefit from taking driver's ed and the test again, but I would honestly fear a riot of some sort if a law like this were to be passed! DMVs would be overrun with angry and disgruntled drivers carrying picket signs with "No, no, we won't go (to Driver's Ed)!" or something! I personally believe that we all would benefit from a little refresher course!
There are better ways than to retest EVERY body every 5 years.
I used to take pilot training. And the training is professional (not by dad or older brother). And everybody frowns on "hot dogging". Pilots take pride in SAFETY. Being a unsafe pilots is like wearing a sign on the back saying "kick me I am an idiot". Nobody brags about doing dangerous stuff.
And the punishment is very harsh (like losing your pilots license forEVER if you are really bad). There's tremendous amount of self policing. Now you know why plane don't drop out of the sky all the time.
===
The reason why I don't think retesting works is because I see my nephew (who has been driving less than 5 years) drive too fast and recklessly. People would just learn to pass the test and still drive like a monkey the next day.
The whole culture of "fast and furious" has to change.
Good Luck

You have my vote! I don't agree with requiring testing past a certain age but I agree completely with periodic written and on-the-road testing of ALL drivers!
You're right about ATL. Some terrifyingly bad drivers in that town, especially on the interstates! I'd rather drive in Chicago or NYC!
I'd also agree to mandatory re-testing if you have more than 2 moving violations or at fault accidents in a 3 year period.
No. It would never work. That would be stupid. It would waste my time and I would feel no more safe if they did.
