With the recent furloughs in California, you should call and make an appointment, It will keep you from waiting in line forever! Remember , they are closed on Fridays. Read the DMV handbook first. There is a practice test in the back as well as online DMV.CA.GOV. It could be tough if you take it cold turkey !!!!

DMV Written Test?!?!?

Are they the same questions as the ones on drivers education?

One Response to DMV Written Test?!?!?

  1. Mike says:

The vagueness of your question is equivalent to "Where is the place with the thing and the people?"

Knowing your location would be a nice start. Knowing where you took driver's ed would help. Even then I can't imagine anyone with an accurate answer

Studying the book the DMV gives you the knowledge you need to answer the written questions. It's like school. You read the book, you take the test.

You can call and ask them if you have to make an appointment.

  2. Lover not a Fighter says:

That depends on where you live. It used to be that way here in NYC. But it was not so in update NYS. So same state – different rules.

So it really depends on your location.

    Good Luck…

  3. curiousgeorge22 says:

No, I don't believe you do. To take the written test, you usually just show up to the DMV with all of the necessary documents, grab a number, then wait for them to call your name.

  4. John W says:

No, you can just walk in for the written test.

I did this earlier today, in OH. I went in and told them I needed to get my permit. They took my photo on the spot and printed my ID card. I filled out a few forms, and then walked down the hall and took the test, all without any appointments.

The actual driving test, on the other hand, is by appointment in most places.

Read the pamphlet a few times over… Otherwise, it's mostly common sense. I got 100% the very first time I took it.

  2. MarJoe says:

Remember when you answer the questions, that the answers are to protect the other people. If you keep this in mind you won't have any problems

  2. happy2beme60 says:

rather than run into to it this time, take a little time to study before you take the test again so you dont have to worry about failing…..good luck

  3. stoneytreehugger says:

You will probably have to wait six months to a year before you can try and take the test again, and you will have to fork out the money again. You should buy the driver's manual from the DMV for your state and STUDY it before you try and take the test again.

  1. Mateja A says:

i took it. it is very simple. its multiple choice

  2. Kaitlyn says:

It's a long piece of paper, double sided, multiple choice questions. You aren't being timed to take the test, so sit down and take as long as you need. It's really easy and you don't need to study as long as you just use your knowledge and common sense. Only questions you may need to study are the ones that ask for MPH, like, "How many mph do you drive in a parking lot?" and you choose an answer.

A tip I gave a friend that had to retake her test 3 times is every time in the multiple choice options, you see the word "SAFE" choose that answer, cuz it's right!!! She passed it after she used my tip.

    Good luck!!

You should take the test in the language you feel most comfortable with. The tests should be the same.
