Can one take their driver’s test before they turn 16?

She has taken Segment Two.
Would she just get her license when she turns 16?
The test would be in Michigan

Where do you live? It varies by state.

About 2 to 3 years ago my nephew looked into doing this because his mom was having major back surgery. They are in Michigan as well.

There is something in the law that states you can get your license before the age of 16 if you can prove that there is a medical requirement for doing so. I thought based on my sister in law’s condition that my nephew would be able to get his license early, but he was denied.

Your best bet would be to call your local secretary of state office, or check their website. I know it can be done, but it is obviously not easy to do and you must have some very good reason.

Apparently major back surgery which takes at least 6 months to recover from isn’t good enough? I’d check with sec of state.

Which portion of the test are you talking about- for a learner’s permit – no. 14 years and 9 months is the youngest you can take the written test.

You cannot get your license before you are 16, and there are some other requirements – like vision test , passed second level of driver’s ed, etc.

I would call to make sure, but I believe you can take the test before you are 16, you just cannot get the license before then. Check out the last resource – it has Michigan’s GDL explained,
