Can I go to the DMV to take the motorcycle road test by myself while on a permit?

And what if I failed the road test, does that means I can’t ride it out of the DMV? NJ rules preferred thanks.

Alot of people on this board like to say…just get your license how hard is that? Well I know nobody with a motorcycle, and all riding courses that exempts me from the road test are booked until Nov. By then I will have no car. What the hell do I do?
The motorcycle test is done in a parking lot and all you have to do was maneuver a few times around a small box. The instructor just stands and scores you.

No, you need to have someone who has their motorcycle license follow you (and drive the DMV person).

In Arizona yes. You have 6 months from the time of the written to complete the practical.

In NY yeah go ahead and you fail before you even stop the bike.

In MO you can ride on the perrmit for 6 months all by yourself with a no passenger no nighttime riding restriction. You can renew that permit for as long as you want every 6 months. Yes you can take the driving test by yourself here and if you fail you ride home on your permit.

When I got my first motorcycle license, I was in a similar situation.
My bike wasn’t registered and I didn’t know anyone with a motorcycle and valid motorcycle license.
I paid a motorcycle driver training school to let me use their bike and instructor at the road test when the school brought all of their graduates to the test.

Legally, no. If you get caught riding in (in IL) you can lose your license.
Having said that, I rode to the DMV with a permit to take the test. I managed to take the test successfully, and get out with my license.
My friends were in similar situations, and did the same thing.
The IL DMV asks to see proof of insurance on the bike when you test, by the way. Don’t know if they do that in NJ too.
Just make sure you practice all the same courses that are in the manual on your bike, so that if and when you go, you can ace the test and leave with your license- good luck.
