Buy a car without a test drive?

I've heard people give the reason to have premarital sex as "would you buy a car without a test drive?" I can't quite wrap my brain around that analogy. Could someone explain to me why that particular comparison makes sense with the topic of premarital sex?

It seems to me most people trade in cars for a newer model after several years. I hope that wouldn't be true for a significant other. Perhaps that's the reason I have such difficulty with that analogy.

Please help me out, I just want to understand the popularity behind that comparison (test drive) and how it makes sense when talking about something as intimate as sexual relations with another human being.

You want to be sure that the 2 of u can make each other happy.
imagine going threw what is supposed to be the rest of your life knowing u would never be completely happy with the person you married.

It's a line of crap that people use to justify pre-marital sex. Which I think is totally wrong, God created sex to be between a man and woman AFTER they are married, not before or outside of it with other people.

I think that is a disgusting reason and people use that as a lame excuse to have premarital sex because they simply have no self control. Some say they need to know whether they are compatible sexually but I think that is a pathetic excuse I mean so what if your partner is not good in bed? Would you not love them just because of that? That seems like a really shallow excuse to me. If you really love someone it shouldn't be too difficult to wait for marriage and even if they are lousy in bed you can work it out.

You test-drive a car to see if you like the way it runs before you buy it. So you would have sex with someone to see if you like the way they "run" before you marry them. This is a bad analogy because if you didn't like the way the car runs you wouldn't get it. But, if you didn't like the way a person "runs" would you actually reconsider marrying them? If you said no, then it doesn't matter if you test drive before marrying. If you said yes then the other person doesn't deserve you. And you shouldn't be together if you ALREADY aren't seeing eye-to-eye. This case being pre-marital sex. If some guy you like has said this to you, please stay the hell away from him.

lol I've heard this phrase referred to many times as well. I think in ways it does make sense. But, I also look at the situation like this…..times have changed ad even though it might not be considered "right", most people are not waiting on sex until marriage. Why? Look at the ways we dress, act, music and television. Look at our education esystem teaching sex education at early ages. If this was back 20 years or so, I could agree more with not having sex until marriage but times have changed and we must move with them.
